About Us
Hello, welcome to our website, our names are Claire and Liz Millward. We are sisters and are the partnership for Alouann. We would like to introduce ourselves to you and tell you abit about ourselves.

Our family has expanded as in 2004 Claire gave birth to a daughter named Mia, she loves the dogs and hopefully will continue on our love for the breed

Elangeni Dancing Shadow was our first introduction to afghans, the show world and later on to breeding and we could not have asked for a better dog to start with.

Velvet taught us everything and we became very active in junior handling. This proved to be very infulential to us and was a good training ground for us in teaching us how to get the best of the dog, presentation and being able to show any breed. Junior Handling not only allowed us to show in the UK but introduced us to shows abroad and we travelled to the All Winners and the World Show in Vienna and Brussels where we competed in the handling competitions with borrowed dogs. In addition Liz also attended the first Anglo American exchange where she travelled to New York state and handled an afghan in the breed classes.

Velvet had a successful breed show career in the UK winning the RCC at Crufts 1996, RCC and the CC & BOB at SKC. She was not our first CC winner though, this was Solochia Summer Nights at Alouann, she was bred by Ian and Sonia Ferguson and was our second afghan. We will always remember that feeling of winning that CC under David Lodge.

Velvet become the foundation bitch for Alouann, she had our first litter in 1995 by Solochia Dream Warrior. From this litter came the sucessful Alouann Soul Vibes who won the RCC at Crufts just like his mum in 2000 plus an aditional 2RCC and the CC at Bournemouth, this litter also contained Alouann Soul Inspiration who has proven herself as a producer having been the dam to the second Alouann litter by Ch Punapaulan Into at Araki (Imp). In this litter it contained our first English and Irish champion, Ch Alouann Sugar N Spice at Orashan JW owned by Gail and Roger Link, in fact the litter to date have all attained their stud book numbers, 6CC's, 12RCC's, 8BPIB, and 2CACIBs .

We enjoy participating in the Breeders stakes at championship shows and have won many competitions, in 2003 we became the 1st breeders to ever qualify for the Breeders Stakes Final at Crufts.

In 2003 we met William Hansen at Crufts, we have the same vision for our afghans and became good friends. We were looking at importing a dog to breed to our bitch Alouann Coffee N Cream and had been looking at bringing a dog in from Willam as we loved his Ch Rainbow Aladin of Jhanzi and wanted a dog from him. The dog we were orginally bringing in did not turn out but as William sensed our huge disappointment and could see what we wanted to achieve he asked if we would like to bring in Aladin himself. We jumped at this chance and in partnership with Anne Wilson and Janine Brownless (Tolah) Aladin arrived in the UK in April 05. Aladin attained his UK title in 3 months finishing with the Rerseve Best In Show at the Houndshow and was Top Male in 2005 and Top Afghan 2006 winning BIS at Leeds Championship Show and was Top Afghan 2007 at the time of his export back to Will and Alex in New Zealand.

In july 2005, we mated Aladin to our Phoebe and on the 28th Sept 7 healthy puppies were born, all still having the look of Alouann and these puppies are just starting their show career. Up to May 2009 the litter had won International champion title, Irish champion title, 3CC's, Reserve Best In Show at the AHA and East of England Afghan Ch, BIS 3 at the Combined Canine Ch show in Ireland (All Breeds), Top Afghan Ireland (Showdogs Ireland site, competition based on group and BIS wins),  5 x RCC, 9 x Green star, 2 x Res Green Star, 3CAC's in Belgium, 2 CAC in Holland, 6 CACIB's, Show Certificate of Merit, JW and 3BPIB .

Alouann have always been interested in other breeds and in 2007 Dave the Papillon joined Alouann, he has consistantly won his class and as of May 09 has a RCC aswell as Puppy Group 3 at City of Birmingham Ch show. Now in May 2009, Alouann have been joined again, this time by Diego the Greyhound from the famous Winspiel kennel in the UK.

We have always had interest in other breeds and Alouann has been joined by Lhasa Apso's,  Hungarian Vizsla, Papillon and Greyhound but our love will always be the Afghan Hounds.
